How does the technique work?
In the Russian technique, filler is carefully injected in vertical columns below the vermilion border (the natural edge of your lips). This border acts like a "tube"—if filler is injected directly into it (as in older techniques), it can migrate over time, blurring the lip line and creating the dreaded “filler moustache.”

By placing filler just beneath this border in a vertical pattern, we reduce the risk of migration. The technique helps maintain crisp definition, natural proportions, and long-lasting results while prioritising safety.

Aftercare provided
We provide a complete aftercare kit to support your recovery, including:
-Arnica gel to reduce bruising
-Reusable gel pack to manage swelling

Post-treatment advice
- Avoid touching or massaging the lips unnecessarily
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours after treatment
- No vigorous exercise or saunas for 24–48 hours
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated to reduce swelling
- Follow all aftercare instructions provided

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made primarily of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the skin that attracts and holds moisture. In lips, fillers add volume, definition, and hydration for a fuller, more youthful look.

What is the Russian Lips Technique?
The Russian Lips Technique is a specialised method of lip augmentation designed to achieve a defined, vertical, heart-shaped lift without excessive forward projection. Unlike the classic technique, which tends to add volume horizontally, the Russian method focuses on sculpting height and shape for a more elegant, structured appearance.

What to expect during treatment

• Consultation: We discuss your goals and assess your lips’ natural anatomy.

• Numbing: A strong topical numbing cream is applied to minimise discomfort.

• Filler with lidocaine: The filler itself contains lidocaine, providing additional internal numbing as it’s injected.

• Procedure time: Around 45 minutes in total, including numbing time.

• Results: Immediate improvement, with final shape settling over 1–2 weeks as swelling subsides.

Pre-treatment advice

- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- Avoid NSAIDs/aspirin unless prescribed (these can increase bruising)
- Stay well hydrated

If you already have filler in your lips that was not placed correctly, please note that the Russian Lips Technique may not achieve the desired shape or definition. Existing filler can interfere with precise placement and limit results.

We do offer a filler dissolving service before treatment to create a clean base for the best possible outcome. A face-to-face consultation is required for dissolving, and we’re happy to provide a free 15-minute assessment for each client to discuss options and plan your treatment safely and effectively.
